Statistics say that you will change over 2000 diapers in your babies first year. You can do that bent over or from the top of a nursery changing table or combo dresser. You will be able to diaper your baby in comfort using a change table since they are built to the correct height.     There are a few things to consider when looking for a nursery changing table. Does it have the storage capacity you are looking for through shelves, baskets or drawers?  Drawers are often a plus since you can hide the supplies. Is the baby changer a safe design? The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) safety standard for changing tables says that changing tables with a flat surface must have a barrier on 4 sides to adequately protect your baby from rolling off. If the design is a contoured surface then only 2 barriers are required on opposing sides. If the changing table you are considering does not meet the ASTM standard then DO NOT BUY IT!
