What Everybody Should Know About Babies Nursery Design

One of the greatest pitfalls that first-time parents fall into when it comes to designing babies’ nursery is that they forget that the child is going to grow up. What seems to be cute designs and furniture pieces during the first 1-2 years may not be serviceable afterward, prompting expensive redecorating or buying more furniture in the end. Here are some tips on how you can actually save money on your nursery designing venture.

1. Think of timeless designs and convertible furniture pieces. Wall paint or wallpaper design should be something that your child should be happy to grow up with. If possible, try to think of long term Nursery designs, as opposed to just thinking what is cute or fashionable now. If you really want to make a statement, try using room accents instead. These are less permanent than wall paint.

2. Think safety. Some nursery rooms are designed to inspire awe from possible visitors, but may not be a child-safe environment at all. You may want to invest more in furnishings, appliances and furniture that are safe to use within the vicinity of a child. Lace curtains and ruffles may be great looking, but may be breeding grounds for dust and bacteria. A rocking bassinet may seem great, but may cause your child motion sickness. Etc.

3. Think of leg space. It is essential not to cram too many furniture pieces in the nursery, as these may hamper your movement to get to your child. Less is more in this case, so try to afford more leg space for you. You can also keep the floor clean and clear (with a soft mat or rug in place) in case your child is already on his or her crawling stage.

Who Else Wants Rocking Bassinet Furniture?

It is always a romantic notion to place a baby on a rocking bassinet while you read a bedtime story. However, with this kind of furniture, there are may be some unromantic notions to deal with. For one thing, a permanently rocking bassinet will make it harder for you to place the baby there safely or scoop up the baby in your arms. There are also some little ones who get motion sickness from the constant movement or asthma-like attacks from the bedding. So if you really want this furniture in your kid’s nursery, here are some tips on how to get a really great piece.

1. Choose the convertible rather than the permanent rocking model. A convertible bassinet bed would be the one which allows the bed to remain in an upright and sturdy position when you want it to be. This will make it easier for everyone (including the baby) when it comes to getting the child in or out of the bed.

2. Test the rocker first as to how much it can really swing in each direction. The standard rule is: the less distance each swing arcs, the better it is for the baby. If the rocker really flies off in all directions, the kid in the cradle will probably suffer from motion sickness. Remember, your little one needs gentle rocking. If you think he or she is prepared for more, buy him or her a swing set later on.

3. Try to find linen beddings and dust free matting for the bed. Some children do not exhibit signs of asthma until later on. Ruffles and fur may seem like great designs, but these may hamper the baby’s breathing.
